About us & EYFS
We are a husband and wife team who provide childcare in our house on Dyke Road. We employ ten staff to work alongside us allowing us have ratios that are 3 children to 1 adult or less. Between us we have over 50 years experience of working with children at home and in nursery settings and are all qualified to or working towards NVQ level 3 in childcare.
Hungry Minds Childcare is a more personal and nurturing setting than a typical nursery, while being much busier and livelier than a typical set-up where there is only one childminder. While attending Hungry Minds Childcare your child will be part of a large, fun, extended family where they feel at home, free to explore and learn about the joys of being a child. At Hungry Minds Childcare we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage where the emphasis is on each child being ‘an individual’. We make the time to observe and get to know your child as the individual they are, so we can plan exciting activities to suit their personality and stage of development. |
Funded places for 2, 3 & 4 yearsHungry Minds is an accreditied setting in the city and provides funded places for 2, 3 & 4 year olds. Unlike many nurseries in the city we maintain small child to adult ratios across all the age groups. The Pre-schoolers really benefit from the attention these smaller ratios allow and let our staff really prepare them for their move into their school reception class.

Friends for life
At Hungry Minds Childcare, children make friends and socialise, they learn from each other as they play and share toys. All age groups play together, just as they would at home. We provide a vast range of stimulating toys, games and books. When the weather permits we have a large and safe garden to explore. The younger children have their own cot and bedding for nap times. We have three seater push chairs so we can enjoy regular trips to local parks and the beach.
The breakfast and after school club
Set up to cater for busy parents with children at school and younger siblings at Hungry Minds Childcare, the breakfast and after school club has relocated to the Church of the Good Shepherd hall, opposite HMC. We can now look after a larger number of children and provide that all important school drop off and pick up, with a freshly cooked dinner waiting for those hungry, tired minds.
